Meet Freya and Alex from England, they are here in Seville as part of their internship with DSC Regen. We caught up with them to find out how they are getting on in their first month working as ecology assistants in the local allotments.
Here’s what they had to say about their work so far and how they are going to benefit from this time in Seville.
The girls have a very varied job here in Seville with both assisting in the allotments and teaching kids being part of their roles. When asked about what her job entails Freya said:
“We’re helping the older community here, so if they need something lifted we help them with that. We’re working on restoring an educational garden at the moment and that will be used next year for children to come here on school trips. We’re also going to schools and doing educational workshops just talking about the environment and how to be more sustainable”
This opportunity abroad gives the participants personal and professional experience. When asked about how this work is benefiting her, Alex said “I really want to work for community based organisations in the future so this is great because I love working outdoors and I am working for an organisation that I think are doing really great work for the community as well as for the environment”.
